Transportation Demand Management Program – Eligibility

Proposed projects must contribute to air quality improvements. Types of projects that are eligible for this program include, but are not limited to, projects that employ:

  • Alternative modes or strategies supporting use of them
    • Transit services
    • Nonmotorized-mode support
    • Park-and-ride lot amenities

  • Parking management
    • Transportation management associations
    • Facility amenities to benefit commuters
    • Telecommuting

  • Land use strategies: Planning for alternative-mode transportation connected to sustainable land uses

  • Ordinances, policies, and programs
    • Trip reduction ordinances, policies, and programs, including parking pricing and transit subsidy requirements

The eligible applicants for the Transportation Demand Management Program are the municipalities, regional transit authorities, transportation management associations, and regional planning agency in the Boston Region MPO area.

Applications for the funding of a transit service should be made to the MPO´s Suburban Mobility Program if the applicant is eligible for that program.
