Introduction

The Boston MPO Interactive Mapping web pages make available map-linked information (geographic information system, or GIS) on the Boston-region and, in some instances, statewide transportation infrastructure. The Central Transportation Planning Staff has compiled this information and has developed these thematic GIS maps as planning tools for use by municipal officials, planners, engineers, and other members of the public.

The maps are designed to provide information about a particular topic, such as projects in the Transportation Improvement Program, crashes, or traffic counts.

  • Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Project Map - Projects in the Boston MPO region programmed for fiscal years 2008-2011. The information was updated in August 2007. What is the TIP?

  • Traffic Counts - The MPO warehouses traffic volume counts conducted on highways and roads throughout Massachusetts since 1962.  You can use the interactive map to locate counts in your area of interest and then view, print, or download the detailed data.
