"Be Informed, Be Involved"
The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization encourages citizens to get involved in regional transportation planning with a new booklet. The handbook is a resource guide for residents and local officials who want to stay informed and have input into transportation
decision-making in the region.

Public Involvement Program.
In March, 2002, the Boston Region MPO adopted a new public involvement program. The program explains the MPO's policy and approach to public participation and spells out specific avenues and opportunities for involvement. Also included is Information on the roles of MPO-related committees and entities, MPO outreach procedures, and public review processes.

Regional Transportation Advisory Council.
The Regional Transportation Advisory Council is an independent group of citizens and officials charged with providing public input on transportation planning to the Boston MPO. It was created in 1973 when the MPO was first established.

Access Advisory Committee to the MBTA (AACT).
AACT is an advisory group which meets monthly with MBTA staff to discuss the transportation concerns of people with disabilities and to develop recommendations on ADA compliance. Because of the wide range of needs among people with disabilities and the variety of ways to meet those needs, a number of subcommittees have been established to explore access issues in depth and to develop specific recommendations on accessibility provisions.
