The MPO has developed the JOURNEY TO 2030 Public Involvement Plan, which outlines the outreach activities that will be conducted by the MPO to involve the general public throughout the development of JOURNEY TO 2030.

JOURNEY TO 2030 will be informed by its Public Involvement Plan to include input from members of the public and interested groups, as well as municipal, state, and federal officials. JOURNEY TO 2030 outreach will build upon the input received during the development of the MPO’s 2004-2025 Regional Transportation Plan, the recent Statewide Long Range Transportation Plan, and MAPC MetroFuture Plan.

The Public Involvement Plan outlines the timing of the public involvement aspects of JOURNEY TO 2030 development. The MPO completed extensive outreach from January to March 2006, which included outreach to the MAPC Subregions, the Regional Transportation Advisory Council, and various organizations through the “Invite Us Over” program. The MPO also held forums throughout the region and held open houses in Boston to inform the public about JOURNEY TO 2030 and to gather public comments.

The MPO will conduct another series of outreach events in the late fall/early winter, where MPO staff will present transportation model results including environmental justice analyses are available from different transportation networks. Check back often for detailed information about the outreach events later this year.
The draft JOURNEY TO 2030 document will be released for public comment in February 2007, and extensive public outreach activities will be scheduled for review of the draft, prior to the MPO’s approval of the final document.

PUBLIC OUTREACH TO DATE
The MPO has conducted many public outreach activities during the first several months of the JOURNEY TO 2030 process to introduce the Plan to the public and to hear their views.
