The Safety and Operations Analyses at Selected Intersections study provides municipalities in the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) with recommendations and conceptual designs for potential short- and long-term solutions for intersections that need safety improvements and congestion management.

The intersections selected for this study, and cited below, have a history of numerous crashes and extensive congestion during peak periods.

  • Route 27 (North Meadows Road) at West Street in Medfield
  • Adams Street at Furnace Brook Parkway and at Common Street in Quincy

MPO staff analyzed these locations and developed recommendations to improve operations and safety for all users, including people who walk and bike. Staff summarized results of the intersection studies in two memoranda, one for each municipality.
