Abstract
Mobile source emission factors used to assess the air quality impacts of transportation projects in Massachusetts.
Description
Mobile source emission factors are used to assess the air quality impacts of transportation projects included in the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s (MassDOT) State Transportation Improvement Program and the Transportation Improvement Programs of the metropolitan planning organizations in the Commonwealth. Emission factors were developed using the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s MOtor Vehicle Emission Simulator (MOVES) model.
Factors were developed for a representative county in eastern Massachusetts (Middlesex County) and western Massachusetts (Hampden County) for the years 2019, 2020, 2025, 2030, 2040, and 2050, The factors were developed for specific vehicles, types of roadways, average operating speeds, months of the year, and time of day.
